Yeah a domain name is cheap and can include hosting. You can get a .info for 2.88 a year or something. Or do a search for free email. A quick google returned this for instance:
http://www.zzn.com/membersarea_en/home.asp
With that you could do whatever@joedabooger.zzn.com for instance. There are a bunch of services like that if you look.

For the zzn thing you'd just have to fill out the form:
http://www.zzn.com/membersarea_en/joinframes.asp?main=join&type=family
If you wanted 'blahblah.zzn.com' you'd fill in 'blahblah' in the yellow box and under account info for 'Your website address:' you'd put in 'http://blahblah.zzn.com'. All you need is a valid email for them to send the registration info to. The phone #, etc.. you could just make up. Once you're set up it looks like you can then create email usernames like 'blah@blahblah.zzn.com'.

You can if you can receive emails from the email you trying to use on msn. msn will send a email to that email and you will have to confirm the link.
