ok this is how it happens -- for real -- it is at 100% when you buy it and will stay at 100% reliability until you start the engine - same with any car

after you start your engine, you lose a little of your reliability, so in essence, it is possible to break down during a race when you are at 100% reliability because your car has to be running to have a race :)

and things do break when new. i remember changing my diff, new centre, changed the ratio. first day out, took off from the lights real hard and... BANG. no diff!!

I've been playing this game for way too long and I can honestly say I've NEVER broken down at 100%. The race right after that I've broken down plenty of times though. :(
