Not saying it's a bad idea.

BUT if memberships are a thousand times better than non-membys, won't it deter some newer players from thinking they can match it with the best?

They will be blown out of the water before they can find their feet.

The more i think about it I actually like the way it is.

Another reason being the fact that non-memby people can semi stay competitive raises the amount of people online and the overall interactive gameplay. Take this away and im sure we will see many older players who just screw around bailing cos its just not viable to be competitive without a membership.
